Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 16 October 2026

Pretoria Premier Mathematics Academia ("PPMA") is committed to making the PPMA Curriculum platform ("the Platform") accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This statement describes our current accessibility posture and ongoing commitments.

1. Conformance Target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, and neurological.

2. Measures We Take

  • Design with sufficient colour contrast ratios for text readability (minimum 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Provide keyboard navigation for all interactive elements, with visible focus indicators.
  • Use semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) to support screen readers.
  • Ensure all interactive controls have accessible names and roles.
  • Support reduced-motion preferences for users with vestibular sensitivities.
  • Design responsive layouts that work across mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports without horizontal overflow.
  • Maintain touch targets of at least 44px on mobile interfaces.

3. Known Limitations

We are continuously working to improve accessibility. The following limitations are known and being addressed:

  • Some legacy content pages may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Interactive lesson components may have complex interactions that are not fully keyboard-accessible.
  • Some third-party embedded content (videos, documents) may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
  • Certain decorative colour choices in historical content may not meet contrast requirements and are being remediated.

4. Compatibility

The Platform is designed to be compatible with:

  • Major screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack).
  • Browser zoom up to 200%.
  • Operating system high-contrast modes.
  • Keyboard-only navigation without a pointing device.

5. Reporting Accessibility Issues

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on the Platform, please report it via our Contact page. Include the page URL, a description of the issue, and the assistive technology you are using. We will acknowledge your report and work to resolve the issue.

6. Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time achievement. We conduct regular reviews, incorporate user feedback, and remediate issues as they are identified. This statement will be updated as our conformance level improves.

7. Technical Specifications

The Platform is built with React and follows WAI-ARIA patterns for interactive components. HTML is structured with semantic elements and ARIA attributes where needed to convey meaning to assistive technologies.
